Our Key Contributions

Rural Livelihood

The Rural Livelihood Program empowers rural communities through sustainable, inclusive development. It focuses on key areas like climate-resilient farming, livestock, health, education, women’s empowerment, micro-enterprises, and infrastructure. The initiative supports marginalised groups—especially women and landless families—by creating income opportunities and building local capacity through training and exposure. With improved infrastructure and community engagement, it fosters healthier, more self-reliant villages.
Over 2,500 lives impacted so far. Major initiatives include:

Sustainable Agriculture: Empowering Farmers, Enriching Yields

As a driver of rural transformation, we follow an integrated approach to boost farm productivity and income sustainably.

Our sustainable agriculture initiative empowers farming communities through soil testing, seed production, climate-resilient cropping, and market-linked vegetable farming. With support from our Sanvandini call centre, farmers receive timely guidance throughout the crop cycle. This approach has led to a 20–30% yield increase in cotton, wheat, and gram, while improving incomes and reducing risk for over 2,500 families growing soybeans, vegetables, and more.

Integrated Livestock Development

Our Integrated Livestock Development initiative aims to strengthen rural livelihoods by promoting innovative and sustainable animal husbandry practices. The program encompasses a wide range of interventions including advanced breeding techniques like Sex Sorted Semen and Goat Artificial Insemination (AI), cultivation of nutritious fodder and cactus as alternative feed sources, and the provision of chaff cutters to reduce fodder wastage. Fertility camps, calf rallies, and the establishment of Livestock Development Centers (LDCs) ensure regular veterinary care and community engagement.

A total of 770 Sorted AIs were performed during the year. 289 calves were born using Sex Sorted Semen, including 265 female calves. 38 kids were born through Goat AI services. Special support is extended to vulnerable groups such as landless and widow families through goat distribution, fostering financial independence. These efforts have contributed to improved breed quality, enhanced dairy productivity, and more efficient livestock management, making animal husbandry a viable and sustainable source of income for rural families.

Rural Micro-Enterprise Development

As part of our efforts to strengthen livelihood opportunities in rural communities, we have supported the development of micro-enterprises with a focus on goat-based enterprises and extension support to existing livelihood activities.Through this initiative, 88 goats were provided to two Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the villages of Bhugaon and Jamtha, directly benefiting 16 women members, all of whom are widows or landless. This intervention not only promotes financial independence but also encourages sustainable income generation through livestock rearing at the individual level within a group-based model.

Project Unnati

Project Unnati aims to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes among adolescents and young adults through comprehensive education and access to healthcare services. The project covers a wide population, including 507 adolescent girls (12-19 years), 406 adolescent boys (12-19 years), 368 young women (20-24 years), and 148 young men (20-24 years), organized into 40, 36, 31, and 10 groups, respectively. Key focus areas of the project include:

Nutrition and anemia education

Sexual and reproductive health, including family planning

Mental health and substance misuse

Understanding gender and sex

Recognizing good touch and bad touch

Gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS awareness

Health & Well-being: Building Awareness, Strengthening Families

As part of our commitment to holistic development, we provide access to essential health services and awareness programmes to nurture healthier communities.

Our initiative offers health camps and educational support on menstruation, nutrition, mental health, and gender issues. As awareness grows, we’ve seen meaningful behaviour change—young people are more responsible, and families report stronger, more positive dynamics. We also ensure timely medical care for girls in need, creating healthier, happier home environments.

Mobile Health Vans

We’re making a huge difference in the health and wellness of seven local villages surrounding our plant. Our mobile health van is providing free check-ups and medication to approximately one thousand people every month! Our amazing team, including a highly trained female doctor and nurse, is tackling common issues like diabetes, fungal infections, and high blood pressure.

Project Roots

“Building a Better Today for a Better Tomorrow” is the ideology that led to the fruition of one of our most intimate and heartfelt initiatives, Project Roots. Project Roots seamlessly merges environmental sustainability with socio-economic empowerment, resulting in transformative changes in both the landscape and the livelihoods of rural communities.
The project spans across 10 villages: Ashta, Barbadi, Bhugaon, Chitoda, Inzapur, Jamtha, Jalgaon, Kurzadi, Mandavgad, and Selukate. In these villages, more than 10,000 trees have been planted, including fruit-bearing varieties like mango, lemon, guava, and orange. Bhugaon and Barbadi have seen the highest levels of participation, and the diversity of tree varieties including Nagpur oranges and saffron mangoes-promises both ecological and economic benefits. These trees contribute to carbon sequestration, enhance biodiversity, and help mitigate the effects of climate change

The scale of this initiative is nothing short of transformative

Voices of Wardha

At Evonith Steel, our commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Wardha goes beyond projects-it’s about transforming lives and celebrating the vibrant community we serve. Our social media page, Voices of Wardha, brings this mission to life by documenting our CSR initiatives and sharing inspiring stories of local residents.

An Online Platform That Alternates Between Projects and People

Every two weeks, Voices of Wardha switches its lens:
  • One post highlights CSR efforts—like education drives, healthcare camps, or environmental projects—showcasing how these uplift our communities.
  • The next dives into a personal story—be it a passionate farmer, a young dancer, or a tale of traditional cuisine—capturing the spirit of Wardha.

Infrastructure projects

Our team has accomplished several feats in various villages around the area. We repaired toilets at Zilla Parishad school in Inzapur and Selukate while also giving the compound wall in Chitoda a fresh coat of paint. But that’s not all – we built water filters in both Bhugaon and Selukate. We even managed to provide numerous trucks of slag to villages to help with construction projects. We also did infrastructure work at Co Operative Bank in Wardha We didn’t forget about education – we were thrilled to provide desks and benches to the school in Selukate. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to make a difference in these communities.

BVB Lloyds Vidya Niketan volunteer project:

50-60 extraordinary students from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s Lloyds Vidya Niketan have been selflessly investing their time and energy into an education project. Over the last two months, they’ve been visiting Inzapur Zilla Parishad school to teach spoken English through play methods and peer support. These students aren’t just winging it – they’ve created their own syllabus, prepped materials, and devoted a minimum of two hours at the ZP school to help kids learn valuable communication skills. The result has been a supportive, educational, and flat-out fun environment. This is just the beginning – this program serves as a trial for an exciting upcoming peer support project between the two schools. The benefits are nothing short of astounding – BVB students are developing crucial leadership skills, opening their minds to new perspectives, and making a huge difference in the lives of these village kids.
